Chapar: A Cross-Layer Overlay Event System for MANETs

چکیده
Abstract. In this paper, we present Chapar, an event system designed for mobile ad hoc networks that supports the publish-subscribe model as well as pointto-point and point-to-multipoint message sending. Chapar supports event persistency to resist transient disconnections and network partitioning. Following a cross-layer approach, Chapar is designed as an overlay network that uses the Multipoint Relays (MPRs) defined in OLSR as distributed brokers, and uses the OLSR routing table to disseminate the events. It therefore benefits from the way OLSR handles topology changes. The implementation performance is promising in the sense that no extra signaling is generated by mobility support and the generated overlay traffic is considerably less than the underlying routing protocol.

In this report we present “Chapar”, a publish-subscribe event system for mobile ad hoc networks. Chapar is designed to support mobility and to be robust to disconnections and networks partitions that often occur in mobile ad hoc networks. Chapar is part of the Transhumance middleware project [31, 32] and is designed as a cross-layer overlay architecture. Dans ce rapport, nous présentons “Chapar...

The event system and more specifically publish/subscribe systems plays an important role in designing and implementing a communication paradigm for distributed systems and networks. Publish/subscribe system with its desirable decouplings seems quite promising for middleware working on distributed networks working in mobile environments. In fact, using event system in such networks empowers the ...
متن کاملA Gnutella-based P2P System Using Cross-Layer Design for MANET
It is expected that ubiquitous era will come soon. A ubiquitous environment has features like peer-to-peer and nomadic environments. Such features can be represented by peer-to-peer systems and mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). The features of P2P systems and MANETs are similar, appealing for implementing P2P systems in MANET environment. It has been shown that, however, the performance of the P...

Peer 2 Peer over MANETs is the largely popular used pattern of file sharing within MANETs. P2P system is started in the middle of 1990s. P2P system is deployed on the Internet which is formed by creating an overlay network. P2P overlay consists of upper-layer connections among nodes, or peers, which are selfdetermining of the underlay or substrate network, abstract peer’s view of the connection...
